What we do

We partner with grassroots organizations that work at community-level to realize whole school change.

Systemic Change

The Rockdale Foundation partners with organizations that share a vision for systemic change and a commitment to ethical leadership.

Our partners’ work complements the efforts of national and local government efforts to serve all citizens.

Grassroots Organizations

Grassroots organizations are often started closest to the issues faced in a community. Unfortunately, they lack the resources and accessibility to financial resources necessary to create the desired impact.

The Rockdale Foundation aims to resource grassroots organizations. We provide financial resources to support initiatives, as well as organizational capacity building to carry out those initiatives.

Teacher Training

Quality teaching is at the center of quality education. Teaching includes much more than pedagogy. It requires leadership, building respectful relationships with students and community members, and the ability to instill a passion for lifelong learning.

We seek to partner with those who support and equip teachers to do the laudable work of guiding future generations to discover the breadth of possibilities within and around them.

Collaborative Partnerships

We seek to form long-term, collaborative partnerships, providing organizations the opportunity to learn, grow, and improve their impact over time. We seek to learn, grow, and improve alongside our partners.

As often as possible, we support the work of local peer networks of organizations seeking to learn and share best practices.

Wholistic Impact

We recognize impact to be much more than numbers and charts. Various forms of feedback are used when evaluating the broader impact on a school community, including stakeholder interviews and other anecdotal evidence that take into account the local context, norms, and cultural values.

With our grassroots partners we balance the importance of both quantitative and qualitative data when evaluating impact within a school community.

“As a teacher, before now, I had the notion that teaching the subject matter is all required of me, but with NYAF, I realized that there is more to it. Focusing on quality, professionalism, and nurturing positive behaviours are what define my work.”
